We have a lot of work to do to improve our schools.
New high schools are plagued with disorganization and violence because of poor planning and inadequate support to make these schools successful.
I will pay attention to the details.
This system has eliminated art, music, physical education, library services, and guidance counselors. Instead our kids learn to take standardized tests rather than real reading, writing, and math.
I will fight for quality education.
The voucher program has been hijacked by outside forces cutting state funding and increasing our Milwaukee tax burden. Out-of-state contributors give thousands of dollars to school board candidates because they want to privatize everything from schools to our Social Security and Medicare.
I will put Milwaukee’s interests first.
As a career educator, I know how to make education work. As a journalist, I have learned how to dig for the truth.
I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
Sincerely,
